THE finest purveyors of the most VARIED bag o'Roots-Rock slop to ever hit the planet, the Raunch Hands put in a mighty 9-year "career" of debauching a monstrous pile of influences in an alcoholic haze before calling it quits in 1993.
Their irrevent "skimming" of the seedy under-belly of 50s R&B, instrumental roar, C&W, Soul, CCR, Beefheart-blues, "Exile"-era Stones, 70s Punk-Rock, etc saw 'em lay waste to heaps of obscure and just-plain "classic" stuff ranging from Dr. John, Andre Williams, GG Allin, Blowfly, gospel standards, Sceamin' Jay Hawkins, LOTS of Ray Charles & James Brown, filthy old seamen's ditties, etc.
NO WONDER they could never be "tagged" or "appreciated".
Their 5th and final LP, slapping together eight originals and four covers:
a JFA instro, an ealry GG Allin tune, an obscure late-60s Little Richard soul ditty, and a Bo Diddley-fied tear-thru of a gospel standard.
